GUNSHOT WOUND TREATMENT CLASS
with Dexter "Doc" Peggins
During this four (4) hour class, you will gain the knowledge and necessary skills that could mean the difference between life and death as you are waiting for help or the arrival of emergency medical services (EMS). You will learn self-aid and buddy-aid medical skills; how to apply tourniquets both manufactured and improvised to control serious bleeding in the extremities. You will learn how to open the airway and check for breathing, how to apply chest seals to open ‘sucking’ chest wounds, and how to insert nasopharyngeal airways (NPA) to maintain the airway. You will learn how to apply digital and direct pressure to control the bleeding and how to apply pressure dressings. You will also learn how to ‘pack’ cavity wounds resulting from gunshots, stabbings or other penetrating objects. This course is primarily designed, for individuals with limited or no medical training.
